Untitled Document Exceptional Mid-Century Modern Raymor Italy Ceramic Art Pottery Object with Hand-Painted Intertwined Stallion Horses dating to approximately c.1960, hand markings to the underside « 1521 Italy » For auction is this extraordinary vintage Mid 20th-Century hand-produced art pottery work dating from approximately c.1960 by Raymor Italy. This work was originally produced for use as a lamp base, however has been used and enjoyed exclusively as a decorative art pottery vase. The pottery showcases exceptional artwork of two stallion horses intertwined and wrapping around the cylindrical form, featuring rich orange-red color with white and a beautiful glaze finish. Attributes of this pottery including the incredible surface textures and top quality artwork are highly comparable to the style of master ceramic and pottery artist Marcello Fantoni’s work of this period. This pottery’s concept as a lamp base is only indicated with two small clean round inserts (for lamp wiring and hardware) in the center of the bottom base and underside rim. This work was acquired form the original owners and was previously maintained and displayed under an enclosed glass. The pottery is in excellent condition. There are no damages. This work measures approximately 16″ height by 6.5″ diameter. This pottery is hand marked to the underside base beneath the surface glaze « 1521 Italy ».
