eBay PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION FOR CONDITION, SHIPPING, & OTHER INFORMATION. Up for sale is this used, 22 Fret, Squire by Fender Floyd Rose Strat style Guitar neck with a rosewood fretboard and black tuners. Please read the entire description for a full description of this neck. Based on the serial number, this neck looks to be made in Korea around the 1989 time frame. That is if the serial numbering system is the same for the Korean made Fender Squire guitars as it is for the American Fenders. Either way the trough neck mounting holes for the locking nut definitely indicate it’s a very early production since Fender events went with the top mount locking nut very early on sometime in the very early 90’s. This neck uses the through the neck mounting holes to mount the Floyd Rose Locking Nut which is NOT INCLUDED. (THERE IS NO LOCK NUT INCLUDED JUST THE NECK AS PICTURED) The through neck mounting of the nut is more desired as the nut doesn’t move as it is pulled tight by the bolts clamping it to the neck if you will. Also it is said to produce better tone and sustain. I can’t confirm or deny these claims. Also with top mount nuts the screws can strip out the wood over time causing the nut to not be firmly mounted in place, or to move. The through the neck mounting for the locking nut is something Eddie Van Halen stayed with during his entire career and even implemented it into his EVH brand of guitars that are produced by Fender. The EVH brand is the only Fender produce guitars to have the through the neck mounting of the locking nut. For that matter they are the only brand of guitars that I’m aware of that still use the through the neck mounting of the nut. This neck has a Rosewood fretboard, skunk stripe down the back of the neck, and a single action truss rod that is adjustable from the headstock not the heel. The face of the headstock has the original factory finish which has the logo and the serial number on it. The finish on the face of the headstock has a few scratches from strings being strung on the guitar. Though hardly noticeable and nothing major as you can see from the pics provided. I’m not sure what Squire model this is but it looks like the Squire Pro Tone series but I cannot confirm this. Either way this is a great feeling and playing neck. There are only one set of mounting holes on the heel of the neck. (See Pics) These are from the original body that I removed this neck from. The neck mounting holes are for a contoured heel so if you intend to use this neck on a standard mounting heel you will need to pre drill the forth hole. (See Pics) There are two sets of holes on the face of the headstock which are from the string tree bar being mounted. The original set of holes, which are closer to the nut shelf, were too big for the string tree screws and one of the string tree screws eventually popped out so I mounted the string tree closer towards the tuners and never had a problem again. (THERE IS NO STRING TREE INCLUDED JUST THE NECK AS PICTURED) There are two sets of tuner mounting holes. Both of which are two pin design. The original black tuners are mounted on the neck but I had put a set of chrome Fender USA two pin style tuners on and those tuners cover the original tuner holes completely. I did this to switch from black to chrome hardware. So if you decide to go with the Fender Two pin mounting tuners then there are already holes in the neck for those style tuners. Neck is in good condition. Headstock has no major chips. There was at some point a wrench holder mounted on the back of the headstock. (See Pics) (WRENCH HOLDER OR WRENCHES NOT INCLUDED) Neck is straight and the single action truss rod functions as intended. Frets are in good shape with plenty of life left. There are side marker dots. The neck heel on this neck is 2-3/16”. 22 fret 25.5” scale length. 12” Radius 1-5/8” Nut Shelf This neck is made from hard maple with a rosewood fingerboard. I have way to many guitars and a bunch of parts as well that need to go as I need to thin the beard as they say so certainly no need to build anymore guitars. Over all the finish and condition of this neck are in great condition.
