I purchased the car as a restoration project for my dad before he got sick. He was a supercar mechanic years ago before he retired and seemed to be bored just sitting around the house. We had restored a flooded DB9 together back in 2015 so we knew restoring this Vanquish was possible. Unfortunately, the car is now just taking up space in my warehouse since he is no longer able to work on it and I don’t have the time. Engine: The top of the engine was taken off so it could be properly scoped to make sure no water had made it inside. There was and is no water in the oil, power steering fluid, brake fluid or coolant. The engine is currently partially put back together as you can see from the pictures. Transmission: We have not checked the transmission, but it seems to be all sealed up. We have disengaged it with the release cable used when towing and have been using the emergency brake to keep it in place when needed. Fuel System: The tank and fuel lines were scoped to make sure they did not contain any water. AC System: The AC system was vacuumed out so we could replace the dash which included all the interior AC parts. We have not had the system recharged, as we believe the AC compressor may need to be rebuilt. Interior: The interior of the car was completely removed as you can see from the pictures. All of it cleaned up nicely except the dash and we never got to cleaning up the bottom metal part of the front seats. We purchased a new complete dash with center console from another Vanquish that had the exact same specs. The new dash has been installed as you can see in the pictures. The rear leather piece that has the window 3rd taillight in it looks like the leather covering needs stretched and re-attached. The suede on the roof liner is in good shape but needs to be re-glued to the backer. Windows: The driver and passenger windows roll up and down when we connect the motors to a 12-volt battery. All the windows on the car are in great shape except the windshield has a crack in it. This happened after we purchased it. I think one of my warehouse guys accidentally hit it with something, but I never had anyone own up to it. Airbags: The driver side ceiling airbag deployed when a guy helping out was messing with it. We still are not sure what he did. The rest of the airbags are all still intact. Steering Wheel: We took the steering column out and put it back in, but we have not cleaned up the back of the airbag/horn yet, so that is still out. Body: The car is 100% carbon fiber and in great shape. There are some small normal scrapes on the very bottom of the front spoiler where it looks like someone drove on too sharp of an incline/decline. (See Pictures) The roof is naked unpainted carbon fiber and has a little discoloring in a small spot. (See Pictures) Exhaust system: the exhaust pipes, muffler and tail pipes are made of steel, so they all have a little rust on them. We have not attempted to do anything with the exhaust system, so I really don’t know what is going on with any of sensors, catalytic converter or insides. Wheels & Tires: The Wheels are all in great shape and the tires all seem to have a good amount of treat left on them. Brakes and rotors: We have not been able to test the brakes under power yet, but they all look good, and the brakes stop the car when you push on them. We also use the e-brake to hold it in place, so that works great. Exterior Lights: One of the taillights is good, but the other one was full of water and is stained now. The headlights both had water get in them. We have not tried to clean them or power them up yet. Electronics: The wiring harnesses all look good, as all the connectors had rubber seals on them. The modules, buttons and screen in the dash were all replaced as they are a part of the new dash we installed. All three fuse boxes will need to be replaced or rebuilt. Most of the remaining modules will need to be rebuilt or replaced. This is the reason we never put the interior back in the car or connected a battery back to the main terminals. We were also told that the alternator could be rebuilt if bad, but we never got to that either. All in all, this car could be back on the road if someone wanted to finish the restoration. Or would make a great Track Day car! In my opinion, the year, model, and trim of this car make it one of the most beautiful cars that Aston Martin ever made. I can also help the buyer on where to get access to the workshop manual. It is a subscription that we no longer have, but we did print out a lot of the manual pages that have to do with the electronics.
